The little bee must not be overlooked, as it makes a huge contribution to life as we know it. According to Einstein, if bees disappear from this planet, humans may survive only for a mere 4 years. The food supply of not only humans, but many other land animals could be affected by the loss of these crucial pollinators. The numerous fruits, vegetables, and grasses, which rely solely on honeybee pollination, comprise a significant portion of the mammalian diet. The entire food chain is affected; If there are no plants for the herbivore, there is no meat for the carnivore. Research on CCD must be intensified, and all measures of prevention including the banning of pesticides which are harmful to pollinators -specifically neonicotinoids- must be enacted to avoid a potentially catastrophic food crisis.
