Organising A Themed Kids Party
If your child has a birthday party coming up soon, you’ll want to figure out all the arrangements well ahead of time. A last minute rush usually leads to essential things being forgotten, not to mention an overload of stress.
One of the key things to think about is what kind of theme you will have for the party. Many children like themed parties now, and if you go with this idea you will need to make sure that every aspect of the party adheres to this theme.
When it comes to choosing a suitable theme you need to think about two things. Firstly the age of your child will be relevant, since some themes may be more suited to older children than younger ones and vice versa. And secondly, you should ask your child if there is any particular theme they would love to have for their party. This is their day after all, and your choice may be very different from theirs.
Once the theme has been decided on, you can start planning for the party itself. You might find it a good idea to focus on the cake early on, especially if you are going to have it made on your behalf. Some designs will be easier to manage than others though; for example if your young son is football mad then you can quite easily make a cake and decorate it to look like a football.
But would you be so confident making a cake in the shape of a superhero like Spiderman or a villain like the Joker? Most people wouldn’t!
You will need to think about putting together some themed party bags as well. Most of the popular TV and movie characters are quite easy to find printed party bags for, but you will need to find suitable contents as well.
Not all the contents of a party bag need to be relevant to the theme you have chosen for your child’s party, but you should at least have one or two things in there that are appropriate. Try and aim for a good mix of items as well – perhaps five or six in all.
Of course if it is going to be a themed party you need to think about what your child will wear. Some costumes are easier to get hold of than others – you can either create them yourself or pick them up for a reasonable price. The complexity of the theme or design (or the character they are playing) will decide which route is best.
Normally when you have a party to plan it is much easier to buy a costume than to try and make one. And if you need something like a kids Joker costume then buying it will definitely be the best option!
So are you prepared for that themed birthday party? If not, it’s time to start planning now.
