If ever there was a city that was packed full of treats and experiences, it would have to be San Diego.

You can find out a lot about a city from its museums, and there are plenty of them to explore in this particular city. One of the key venues to try is the San Diego Air and Space Museum. Here you can discover how flight has developed through time, and as such it promises to entrance kids of all ages. That includes the adults too!

There are countless exhibits at this museum to enjoy, including many different types of aircraft such as a stealth fighter. You can also see various models that were used during both the First and Second World Wars.

Staying with history but moving onto the more natural side of things, your next stop should be the San Diego Natural History Museum. Natural history is always fascinating, but as with many museums of this type, this one focuses firmly on local history.

One of the most popular exhibitions in this museum is Fossil Mysteries. This will introduce you to the many dinosaurs and plants that used to occupy the very spot where you will be standing. It is always a highly exciting exhibit for the kids to enjoy.

The natural progression now would be to unearth a museum that showed us the history of man. And San Diego has one of those for us too. Called quite simply the San Diego Museum of Man, you’ll find it located inside Balboa Park. And it has a lot more to offer than you might think too.

The whole history of man is explored, including snapshots of history that stretch back for thousands of years. It’s worth booking onto a tour of the museum if you can, since it often means you can see exhibits that are not always on display. However the best exhibit is easily accessible by all, and it goes right back to mankind’s earliest days, bringing everything up to date in a fascinating way.

Finally how about a spot of art to wrap things up? If this appeals to you, try the Timken Museum of Art. This is also in Balboa Park, so it’s not too far from the Museum of Man. There are some stunning portraits inside this museum, and since there is no charge for entry it makes a nice refreshing place to visit if you are on a budget.

There are plenty more museums as well, all located within easy distance of the many San Diego hotels. So once you have booked a room you can look forward to enjoying the cultural side of San Diego.
